BUS 250 WEEK 3 ASSIGNMENT

Description:
BUS 250 Week 3 Assignment Case Study Government Regulation of Tobacco Products,
The Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act that was signed by the President allowed the Food and Drugs Association to have control over cigarette production and its ingredients as well as the way it should be advertised. It has been known that most cigarettes used a particular ingredient that keeps people from getting into it. Hence the FDA sets new rules regarding advertisement to avoid having contents that can attract teenagers and young ones in smoking. Teenagers are easily becoming the target of cigarette ads and campaigns due to peer pressure and curiosity but alter on, the addictive content of this cigarette can make them keep puffing until they grow older. Among the products being sold in the market today, cigarette is the one with the deadliest consequence and yet it is one of the biggest markets out there. Every year, thousands of people dies from cigarette induce conditions like lung problems (Lawrence & Weber, 2011). When the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act was signed, it gives hope for families out there that cigarette use can be abated while most cigarette companies knew this is bad for the business. One of the cigarette manufacturers out there who made some reactions towards the new law is Reynolds, one of the biggest cigarette manufacturer companies in the United States. The cigarette manufacturer knew that there will be a great impact to their production after the law becomes known to everyone and once FDA acted on it. IT means losing profit, losing customers and probably closing down on some of their companies. Reynolds did use some of its influence in trying to block the law from passing in the Congress to no avail and Reynolds tried to defend its production stating that the cigarettes they are producing doesn’t contain any addictive ingredient or harmful ingredients that is harmful to those who smokes.
